| We gratefully look back to an eventful
and good year. Most importantly, we had several opportunities to reunite with family and friends: in Germany for Elisabeth’s 70th birthday, in Canada for Marcus’ and Kristina’s wedding, and in Oregon and Arizona. Tina Mack visited from Germany (actually, from Hudsonville/Michigan) for Thanksgiving, Paquita from Chattanooga/Tennessee, and Robert and Shannon from Vancouver/Canada. Such gatherings are always our highlights of the year. We also experienced some sad moments with (more and more) friends leaving the Bay Area. Most notably the Noergaard and Deza families, as well as our good neighbor Joe Elwell with his four-legged companion Pete. Maria finished her Masters Degree in education and resumed her 2nd grade teaching position at the bi-lingual dual immersion program in Mountain View. Francisca spent August in Haunsheim/Germany for a (short) bike trip. She is now in 8th grade and won the soccer division with her undefeated team, the Menlo Park Strikers. We are pleased that she started piano lessons again and decided to continue her track & field competitions. Dustin is three years old and finally decided that diapers are not cool. He just started preschool and loves it. It seems to support his language development while he still works on his three languages. His usual response is ‘No’. Karl accepted an exciting scientific position with a R&D company based in Arizona. Otherwise our remodeling project keeps him busy for a bit longer. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hopefully we will see you in 2006. Karl, Maria, Francisca, and Dustin Menlo Park, California December 2005 |
